Feb. 26 The End Of A Brave Little Ship. H.M.S. Amethyst In Breakers Yard: One of the most famous little ships of the British Navy - H.M.S. Amethyst nears unglorious end - in the breakers yard in Sutton Pool, Plymouth. The vessel created a sensation throughout the world when she made her amazing dash down the Yangtze river from a Communist trap in 1949.
