Feb. 26 World's largest Hydrofoil.: Measuring 220 feet long; and weighing 300 tons, this craft is said to be the world's largest hydrofoil, called Plainview, the vessel built by Lockheed ship-buildings company of Seattle, has now been delivered to the U.S. Navy for evaluation as a light speed warship. Capable of speeds in excess of 40 knots, the vessel has three steel foils, one situated on the port side, one starboard, and one at aft.
