Dec. 12, 1958 - Channel ship save man from drifting boat. He wants to go to Russia. Aleksander Mahdenko a 33 year old Ukranian was picked up in Mid channel yesterday from a 5ft. dinghy which was drifting helplessly. He said he started out from Dover after hitch hiking from London. He said he was fed up with England because he could not get a job and hoped to get to Russia via Switzerland and the Red Cross. He lost he cars in the channel, Mahdenko was taken back to Dover.
