Feb. 26 New Kennedy Carrier Has Over 4 1/2 Acres Of Flight Deck: Newest aircraft carrier for the U.S. Navy is the 61, 450 ton Vessel U.S.S. John F.Kennedy.Recently Launched the carrier constructed at Newport News, Virginia, has a massive flight deck area covering 4.56 acres.Overall length of the vessel is 1051 1/2 ft. with flight deck width of 252 feet. Costing 88, 500, 000, the John F.Kennedy will be staffed with a personnel complements of 5, 222 including the air group.
