Feb. 26 The World's Largest Hovercraft SR-N4 Makes Its first public appearance at Cowes.: The 165-ton SR.N4, which is far and away the world's largest hovercraft, was seen in public for the first time at the British Hovercraft Corporation's plants at Cowes. Isle of Wight today. It is powered by four 3, 400hp Bristol Siddeley Marine Protons gas turbines and typical lead are 609 passenger (all seated) 254 passengers and 30 cars, or 30-tons of freight. Sometime next year two of these giant hovercraft, graced by pretty hostesses will skim over to France and back at 70 M.P.H. laden with cars and passengers.
