Feb. 26 Fleet Carrier In Floating Dock after service in Korean Waters: The light Fleet Carrier H.M.S. Ocean (13, 190 tons) in Admiralty Floating Dock (A.F.D. 35) in Grand Harbour, Malta. Ocean a unit of the Mediterranean Fleet has just returned to Malta after service in Korean waters. The two squadron forming the air group aboard Ocean have been awarded the Body Trophy, awarded annually for the most outstanding feat of aviation in the Royal Navy. An official citation praised the offensive spirit, skill, airmanship and courage of the air crews of the two squadron (No.802 and 825). The citation added - In 79 days of flying the average daily sortie rate of 76.3 sorties (123 sorties being the highest for one day operation). A division of 802 Squadron (operating sea furies) accounted for the first MIG to be shot down by naval aircraft. 825 squadron (of fireflies) had only four incident on the deck, resulting in a dock landing accident rate of one in 496 landings. The A.F.D. 35 is one of the largest floating docks and can accommodate the largest warships afloat. It was built in Bombay on a cost of1, 500, 000 and towed to Malta in three sections through the Swiss Canal in 1947
