Feb. 26 THE FLYING CRAB HOVERCRAFT BEGINS PASSENGER SERVICE: History was made yesterday in the Irish Sea by the 11-ton 24-seater Vickers-Armstrong VA 3 Hovercraft which completed a 19-mile trip from Wallasey to Rhyl across the Des estuary in half an hour at a speed of 60 mph. Looking like some giant flying crab it took the first passengers of a service that begins on Friday for which more than 3000 tickets have already been sold. The service is for 8 weeks, 6 days a week, 6 times a day. Cost £2 return. Holiday-makers will save up to 1 1/2 hours on summer roads.
