Feb. 26 POLICE STOP CORT SHIP IN THAMES. A ship carrying a Polish stowaway whom crowds had tried to release sailed early today from the pool of London. Within half-an-hour police. On home office orders, stopped the vessel at Woolwich. There were dramatic midnight scenes at the deckside before the ship, the 3, 219 ton Polish steamer Jeraslaw Dabrowski left, with the stowaway-Antoni Klimowiez, 24, aboard. Also aboard the ship was Dr. Joseph H. Cort, the 26-year old American lecturer who was ordered to leave Britain by midnight tonight. With him was his wife, Ruth. they were bound for Czechoslovakia. Klimowiez, who boarded the steamer in Gdynia, was seeking asylum from the Communists. But when the Dabrowski arrived in London he was too weak and exhausted to land. A hundred Polish exiles had demonstrated outside the ship for several hours and delayed her departure.
