Mar. 27 Rubber buoys for Japan waters The first rubber buoy anchored off the coast of Japan is a new development in shipping control lanes. The buoy made by the Yokohama Rubber Company, is 3-meters in diameter, 4.5 meters high and has a doughnut shaped rubber tube with an independent porous block inside. Because of its structure, the rubbery buoy has a great resistance to shock and acid, as well as greater buoyancy than conventional buoys. Some of the new type rubber buoys will be used for oceanographic survey, and fitted with measuring instruments which are built in, and automatically collect and transmit data. Keystone Tokyo
