Mar. 22 New French Super Liner Under Construction. Unique Smoke Stack System. Said to be the longest liner in the world - the S.s. France (68, 000 tons) - is now under construction at St. Nazaire - for use on the Le Harve - Southampton - New York service of the French line. She will be the last word in modernity - and will have a unique system of smoke stakes - by which the smoke leaves the funnels via wings built into the sides. It is said that this system should stop smoke soiling the decks - whatever angle the ship is travelling or whatever angle the winds may blow. Photo Shows:- An Artist's impression of the new French Liner - the s.s. France (68, 000 tons) now under construction at St. Nazaire - showing her unique funnels
