Boats - Sailing - Ships

Feb. 29 UNPLANNED HOLIDAY FOR ROWBOAT ADVENTURERS.: Currently enjoying an unplanned and unexpected holiday in the Gilbert Islands, are British rower John Fairfax, 33, and his friend, Sylvia Cook, 32. Two-thirds of the way across the Pacific Ocean from Son Francisco to Australia, their boat - Britannia II - hit a reef and was towed into Tarawa for repairs. There, boatyard workers found worm-damage in addition to the holes caused by the reef, and this is now being put right. Photo shows:- Sylvia Cook points to one of the holes in Britannia II, at Tawara, in the Gilbert islands
