Apr. 05 Britain's New Aircraft Carrier: One of the first official pictures of H.M.S. Bulwark, the latest aircraft carrier to join the Royal Navy. The Bulwark, recently accepted from the builders, Measre. Harland and Wolff Ltd, Belfast, and commissioned earlier his month, has been carrying out trials in the measured mile off the Isle of Arran and also in the English Channel. She will enter Portsmouth, her manning port, for the first time on Friday (November 26th). The Bulwark incorporates all the latest developments in carrier operating techniques, including the angled deck (which can be seen in the picture) and the most modern radar and gun directing systems. She is commanded by Captain J.M. Villiers, O.B.E. R.N, and is the third ship of the Hermes class; her sister ships the Centaur and the Albion, came into service earlier this year
