Jun. 06, 1961 - The Esmeralda gets a Big send Off: Thousands of people crowded Sydney Harbour, Australia, to give a rousing send-off to the 308 foot long Children training ship, Esmeralda. The lovely white barquentine was escorted by everything that would float, racing yachts, cabin cruisers, fibre glass runabouts, grimy trawlers and even surfboards.
