Boats - Sailing - Ships

Jan. 01, 1962 - Two ship wrecks in the estuary of the Elbe River: Three weeks ago, the English ship Ondo (ONDO) came off the route during heavy storms, and stranded on the sand banks Grosser Vogelsang'. Two weeks later, the Italian ship Fides also stranded her in the dangerous sand. Both ships could be left in time by the crew, but the ships are lost. only a small part of the valuable load of the Ondo (Ca beams) could be saved. From the ore-freighter Fides, fishermen could only save in the last minute valuable instruments and forgotten papers. Photo Shows: In front Fides and in background Ondo, both lost ships, as they lay in the sand of the Grosser Vogelsang on Jan 28th
