May 05, 1962 - Preparing to Launch HM Submarine Ocelot at Chatham.: Fifty shipwrights with many helpers were to be seen this morning at Chatham Dockyard preparing for tomorrow's launching of H.M. Submarine Ocelot. Swinging their 14 lb. muls in unison they lifted the 900 tons dead-weight of the vessel less than one-eight of an inch from its building blocks to the sliding ways. HMS. Ocelot is the eight sub of the Oberon class and will probably be the last conventional sub built at Chatham for it is expected that the shipyard will turn to nuclear vessels. Photo shows view of the stern of H.M.S. Ocelot which looks reminiscent of an aircraft as it is compared with the workman below
