Aug. 08, 1960 - The Olympic Flame Is Transported From Greece By Italian Naval Training Ship: After a ceremony at the Olympic Stadium in Athens, the Olympic Flame was taken aboard the Amerigo Vespucci, an Italian naval training ship, and transported to the port of Syracuse, Sicily. There the first Italian runner will light the torch again and start on the relay run to Rome.
