May 05, 1963 - The Defiant Gets Ready For Round-The -World Trip. Preparations are being made at Cadogan Pier, Chelsea for the departure of the 45ft. flat-bottomed power boat Defiant on a round-the-world expedition. The crew will be made up of four men and two girls, and they all given up good jobs to go on this trip. Only one of them, 29-year-old skipper Barry Goddard has any previous seagoing experience, and they claim to have no money and no foreign languages. They do not expect to be back in the U.K. until 1968. Photo Shows: One of the crew Bonney Sargent gives a toast on the pier. Her husband Michael will also be in the crew
