Jun. 06, 1964 - H.M.S. Lofoten. Navy's First Helicopter Support ship: Being commissioned at Devonport on June 24th is H.M.S. Lofoten, which has been specially converted to a Helicopter Support Ship. She was first commissioned as a landing ship in 1945, and is named in honour of the first successfull commando action in the last war. Photo shows H.M.S. Lofoten, with a Wessex helicopter embarked during trails
