Jun. 06, 1965 - A Revolutionary ship's hull is demonstrated at Hampton. A twenty - foot self powered model of a revolutionery ship's hull was demonstrated on the Thames at Hampton today. The model named Confounder is the work of 69 year old Alfred Burgess of Putney, who for years has been trying to overcome some of the basic drawbacks to the conventional ship's hull. The Burgess boat is powered by two ten h.p. motors is three hulled, comprised of a main inner hull and two outer half - hulls, joined by a common deck on top and by two webbe at the bottom athwart- ships. This gives the effect of two tunnels of venturl design. In these tunnels are the sorows, giving the tractor drive, Steering, therefore, is on the motors. The model is constructed with fibreglass on a wooden frame. The boat is primarily designed not to make waves or ride in a deficiency of water.
