Jun. 06, 1964 - R.A.F. Men Rescue Yacht from Atlantic. A thrilling rescue was completed yesterday when the yacht Fair Judgement sailed safely into Milford Haven, Pembrokeshire. The 15 ton yacht was being sailed back to England from Cannes by American Skipper Richard Woodworth and his crew of two Britons when they ran by a heavy gales of the Scilly Isles. Battered by the gales for several days, and swept off course towards the dangerous rocks in the Scillys, the yacht sent up distress signals, and had almost given up hope when an R.A.F. helicopter arrived on the scene from the Chivenor airfield in North Devon. Two experienced yachtsmen, Group Captain Farrar and Flight Lieutenant Trowern dropped from the helicopter and managed to board the yacht, the crew of which had no sleep for four days, and steered the yacht through hte heavy seas to the safety of Milford Haven.
