But it was four centuries after Raleigh and the mariner was Bob Manry, who sailed solo in his tiny yacht Tinkerbelle the smallest vessel to make the East - West Atlantic crossing. Manry was given a tremendous welcome when he landed at Falmouth, Crownwall, after his lane crossing of the Atlantic in Tinkerbelle from Falmount, Massachusetts.
