Nov. 11, 1966 - Proving That Doing Things by Halves Can be Great Success. The stern half of a 46, 000 bulk carrier built at Austin Pickersgills Yard, southwick, Sunderland, took to the water on Monday (Oct. 31). There was no ceremony for the rear half of the ship which slid down the slipway into the River Wear - this will be reserved for a later date, when the forward section is completed and the two halves of the ship are joined together, six miles away at Palmers Dry Dock, Hebburn in Tyne, early in the New Year.
