Aug. 08, 1966 - Lone Yachtsman sets off on race round world: Mr. Alec Rose, 58, a Portsmouth greengrocer, set out from Portsmouth today, in his 30ft. Yacht Lively Lady, to sail round the world, with only one stop - Australia - which he hopes to reach before the racing marathon expert, Mr. Francis Chichester, who plans to start in two weeks in his new 53ft. Yacht Gipsy Moth IV. They will follow the old racing clipper route to Australia, stopping at Sydney for a short rest. There was a slight mishap as he started, when Lively Lady ran aground. However the Inshore lifeboat came to the rescue and pulled her off. Photo shows the scene as crowds watch from the shore as the Lively Lady is prepared to get under way after running aground
