Jun. 06, 1966 - HE'LL SPEND HIS 65TH BIRTHDAY ALONE ON THE ATLANTIC: On September 17th, somewhere south of the Azores, Francis Chichester will celebrate his 65th. birthday. He will be alone on the Atlantic, some 13, 000 miles away from his only port of call, and heading his boat along the old Australian slipper runs into the Roaring Forties. Mr. Chichester is aiming to sail to Sydney non-stop. Then he will sail back to England non-stop. Total number of miles: 28, 500. Estimated time, with a 30 day break in Australia, 230 days. Mr. Chichester, who has been called the greatest single-handed navigator of our age, has already flown solo to Australia and three times sailed single-handed across the Atlantic.
