Sep. 09, 1967 - Britain's One -Man Semi- Submarine: Mr. Douglas Price has built himself a submarine. It is really a semi-submarine, because when sailing normally the conning tower is just visible above water. But this is being academic. When you peer out of a porthole you have the authentic submarine feeling of being sealed alone in a container in the green, limitless sea. Mr.Price, who is 52 and lives at Bishops Sutton, near Bistol, says he took 4, 000 hours to male it. He tried out the vessel, called Highlander, at West Bay, Dorset, yesterday. She sails very well, he reported. He has no special plans. But Highlander had a range of 8, 000 miles at five knots, and he might sail across the Atlantic.
