Aug. 08, 1963 - World's first Civil Submarine.: The world's first civil submarine, which has been constructed by Jacques Piccard, son of the famous Professor, was shown to the press last week. The boat is 98ft long and can dive to a depth of 1, 200 metres. It will be an attraction at next year's Swiss Navigational Exhibition when it will be used to take parties below Lake Geneva where they will be able to see by means of searchlights.
