1966 - New Russian Liner Sails into London. Russia's newest luxury liner, the Alexander Pushkin, sailed into London yesterday. The 1/2 million ship docked at Tilbury after her maiden voyage from Leningrad. Russia expects to make a first year profit of about 50, 000 on the 19, 860 ton, 650 berth liner. Built last year in East Germany, the ship will go on monthly voyages to Quebec and Montreal. Each voyage will start in Leningrad with calls in Finland and Scandinavia, before picking up more passengers at Tilbury.
