Dec. 12, 1966 - 12-12-66 Francis Chichester given hero welcome in Sydney Lone yachtsman Francis Chichester in his ketch Gypsy Moth IV, sailed triumphantly into Sydney Harbor today after his epic 13, 750-mile voyage from Plymouth, which took him 108 days. Thousands of people crowding the shore gave his a hero welcome. As soon as the Customs finished a formal inspection of Gypsy Moth Iv, Chichester wife, Sheila and their son, Giles, went aboard.
