Dec. 16, 1966 - World's First Plastics Ship will be British: A British breakthrough in developing a form of plastics structures suitable for the building of ships is disclosed by Bristol Thrneyeref's Ltd. A full scale test section of a 600 ton ship has been built under Navy contract as the necessary precursor to building a complete plastics ship. Photo shows Hull skin with integral bearing members completed and awaiting assembly of decks and bulkheads.
