Boats - Sailing - Ships

Jan. 01, 1968 - Alec Rose leaves Australia on the second half of his voyage around the World in Lively Lady': 60-year old Alec Rose, a Portsmouth greengrocer, and the lone yachtsman who sailed his 32-feet ketch Lively Lady from Portsmouth to Melbourne, Australia, last December, set out today on his return voyage back to Portsmouth, England. It will be the same journey, by way of Cape Horn, that Sir Francis Chichester completed last year. Photo shows father and son's last moments together on board the Lively Lady before Alec Rose went through the Heads to begin his return lone voyage back to Portsmouth today. His son Michael, who lives in Australia, left the Lively Lady at Queenscliff, just inside the Heads
