Oct. 02, 1967 - Britain?s ?52 million first Polaris Submarine ?Resolution? joins the Royal Navy ? H.M.S. Resolution, Britain?s first Polaris submarine, went into service with the Royal Navy today. Built at a cost of ?52 million, it carries 16 Polaris missiles, and has six 21inch torpedo tubes. It has two captains and two crews, and is the first ship in the Navy to have double manning.
