Feb. 02, 1965 - Helicopter Saves Two Men In Ship Fire Drama: The crew of the Irish steamer City Of Waterford were taken off in a rescue operation yesterday after she caught fire six miles south-west of St. Catherine's Point, Isle of Wight. A badly burned seaman, and another man in similar condition, were lifted from the burning ship by a R.A.F. helicopter and taken to hospital. The steamer was towed into St. Helen's Roads, Isle of Wight, after the fire was brought under control. Late last night the fire flared up again and it was feared that the vessel was in danger of sinking. The ship was on its way from Antwerp to Cork.
