Jan. 01, 1969 - Single handed Rower Get Ready To Row The Atlantic The 22 foot wooden boat Britannia which John Fairfax, is going to row single handed across the Atlantic, was loaded aboard the Royal Mail Lines Aragon'. The boat, designed by Uffa Fox, the famous boat builder, to start it journey to Las Palmas, in the Canary Islands, from where Mr. Fairfax will begin his 3, 500 mile row to Miami, Florida. He will be the first person to attempt to row single handed across the Atlantic. The journey he anticipates will take about three months.
