May 28, 1968 - Preparing to face the Atlantic Alone:On Saturday (June 1), 43 yachts from 10 countries, with 3, 000 miles of lonely Atlantic ahead of them - set cut from Plymouth single-handed for Newport, Rhode Island. Yesterday yachtsmen were stowing gear and stores in readiness for the start. Photo shows the only woman in the race.
