Jul. 07, 1967 - Yachtsman Off On World Trip. Mr. Alec Rose, 59, the Trans-Atlantic yachtsman, sailed out of the Solent in the 36ft cutter Lively Lady, in an attempt to sail single-handed round the world. Mr. Rose is a Portsmouth greengrocer. Last August, after setting out on what was meant to be a race with Gipsy Moth IV, his yacht was run down and badly damaged by a ship in the Western Approaches. He plans to reach Australia in November, spend Christmas with his son in Melbourne and be back in Britain in May.
