Nov. 11, 1965 - Japanese Antarctic observation ship off to the White Continent': The super Antartic observation ship Fuji, carrying 40 Japanese scientists and 182 crew members, receieved a big send-off when she left to explore the great white continent'. The newly completed, 7, 760-ton ice-breaker, complete with scientific instruments, and three helicopters, is the culmination of Japan's industrial and technological achievements.
