Jun. 06, 1968 - THE BRUCKER SURVIVAL CAPSULE - A MAJOR ADVANCE IN SAFETY AT SEA: The Brucker Survival Capsule is a new departure in the protection of life at sea, conceived to fulfill its mission from the moment of disaster until rescue of its occupants. The 14-feet diameter, lenticular-shaped capsule is fabricated of a fire-retardent fibreglass, impregnated with a radar reflective material, and has a steel centre column for added strength. Asprinkler system wets the outer shell when oil slick fires are encountered, while inside the air is purified and recirculated, keeping the occupants cool and in no danger of suffocation. It is self righting stability with 28 people aboard. and connect sink even if swamped. It is initially designed to meet the safety demands of all types of offshore vessels and plans are now being formulated for the development of a smaller 8-man survival capsule for use on cargo and fishing boats and on tankers, with a 35-man version for liners.
