May 09, 1969 - Eric Tabarly set another world record. He arrived in front of all of his competitors in the race across the Pacific, from San Francisco to the little Japanese island of Jogashima, which is about a hundred kilometers from Tokyo. It took him about 39 days on the Pen Duick V to make the 6, 000 kilometer crossing. He is pictured holding his trophy in Tokyo
