1970 - Hovercrafts Goes Aground on sands for school trip: The treacherous Goodwin Sands, off the Kent coast, provided a novel outing yesterday for 200 pupils from Crawley Junior School, Sussex. they chartered a hovercraft from Dover for the 12 mile trip, which took 15 minutes, and went aground for a 20 minutes frolic in the sands and tidal people.
