1970 - Famous Iron Ship's Last Voyage: The hulk of the first ocean-going- screw-driven Iron ship, the S.S. Great Britain, now beached in the Falkland Islands, is to be towed on a 2, 667-ton pontoon across thousands of miles of Ocean to her her home port of Bristol. The S.S. Great Britain was designed by Isambard Kingdom Brunel, the famous British engineer, and launched in 1843. Photo Shows The S.S.
