Nov. 11, 1967 - Midget Submarine to hunt for sea gas.: Britain has built a midget submarine to help the gas hunt in the North Sea. It will be able to ream under the sea for nine hours at a time. It measures 11 ft. long 9 ft high and inside there is room for two men standing, sitting or lying down. Twin electric motors and half - a - ton of batteries will power the craft. Television cameras, light and a manoeuvrable claw can be attached to its bow. The crew observe through 10 portholes. The cost of the submarine is about £25, 000 and was made by the Lintott Engineering Col. Hersham. It can drive to about 1, 000 feet.
