Dec. 12, 1969 - Europe's first automatic Bouy.: Europe's first automatic buoy, the £160, 000 84-ton Hawker Siddeley Dynamics Lanby, when it was handed over to Trinity House at Royal Albert Dock yesterday. Its main light beacon 40ft above sea level has a luminous range of 16 miles and its fog signal is audible for more than three miles. After North Sea trials the Lanby will replace the Shambles lightship off Portland Bill
