Dec. 12, 1970 - Sir Francis Prepares For Sailing's 4-Minute Mile'.: In the quiet waters of the Beaulieu River at Bucklers Hard, Hants, Sir Francis Chichester, 69, the round-the-world yachtsman, is busy preparing his new Gipsy Moth V for what he calls the four-minute mile of sailing - a voyage averaging 200 miles a day for 4, 000 miles. He plans to sail on Saturday to Plymouth from where he is to leave the following day for Bissau, Portuguese Guinea, starting point for the 4, 000-mile voyage to Juan Del Norte in Nicaragua. The 29-ton, 57ft staysail ketch is 50 per cent. bigger than her predecessor
