Jan. 01, 1971 - Survey ship will bring back snow samples.: Two hundred samples of snow will be brought back by the Bransfield, 7, 000-tons, which sailed from Southampton yesterday on her maiden voyage for the British Antarctic survey. The snow will interest scientists more than Britain's own variety. They will examine the samples for evidence of pollution, either from space or from earth. The Bransfield, which has cost £1, 750, 000, was seen off on her voyage to relieve and supply bases by Sir Vivian Fuchs, director of the survey. He will be joining the ship at Montervideo.
