Jul. 07, 1970 - Royal Navy Makes Record Submarine Escape At 600 Feet: A team of 13 of the Royal Navy established a world record for submarine escape they surfaced off Malta from the submarine Osiris, 1610-tons, moving at three knots at a depth of 600ft. the men broke the previous record which they had set up last week by escaping from a depth 525ft. Their achievement has proved that it is possible to escape from Submarines bottomed anywhere on the Continental shelf.
