Mar. 20, 1969 - The first nuclear submarine, the Redoutable is 128 meters long, 10.60 meters wide, and deplaces 8, 000 tons of water on the surface and 9, 000 tons of water underneath the surface. It travels at 20-25 knots produced by a nuclear motor with power around 20, 000 CV. It can travel at anywhere from 300 meter depths to 500 meter depths.
