1969 - Lone Round-The-World Yachtsman Is Home: Lone yachtsman Robin Knox-Johnson, 30, crossed the finishing line at Pendennis Point, Falmouth, Cornwall yesterday, at the end of a 312-day non-stop voyage round the world. The 30, 000 mile voyage wins for Mr. Knox-Johnston the Sunday Times Golden Globe trophy for the first man to circumnavigate the world non-stop and alone.
