Aug. 08, 1972 - Japanese Floating Fair Ship Starts Maiden Voyage: The recently completed 13, 082-ton Japanese floating fair ship Shin Sakura Maru (New Cherry Blossom) steams out of Tokyo Bay on its 123-day maiden voyage to 10 European countries to show Made in Japan goods. The ship is equipped with the very latest devices, including a navy navigation satellite system by which the ship can pin -point its location in any weather by information from satellites and processed by computer. It is also fitted with a waste oil incinerator to provent pollution of the sea by oil, and human waste. When not doing duty as a floating exhibition it will serve as a passenger liner for 400 persons, or a container carrier with a capacity of 104 20-foot containers
