Boats - Sailing - Ships

Jul. 07, 1971 - To the Office by Canoe. Mr. John Hornsby, 36 year old Shell Mex and B.P. Terminal Transport Manager, decided to commute from his home in Weybridge to his office in Wandsworth by canoe yesterday. The trip, just 22 miles of the River Thames took him just over 6 hours. The idea started as a friendly wager, but soon developed into a fund raising mission, promoted by Walton and Weybridge Round Table, of which Mr. Hornsby is a member. An estimated 00 has been raised for the Surrey Council of Mentally Handicapped Children, in sponsorship. Photo Shows: Mr. John Horsby arriving at Wandsworth yesterday after paddling his canoe from home - a distance of 22 miles
