Aug. 26, 1972 - Winner of the Transatlantic Race in 1972, Alain Colas wanted to try to beat a new world record by bringing his boat back towards France. Unfortunately, the weather did not allow him to beat the record established in 1905 by the American schooner Atlantic'. Alain Colas reached Port-Deauville with his sailboat Pen Duick VI after 20 days and 18 hours at sea.
